What is the Buddy Program?
Incoming MBA students are paired with current students who can share their wealth of knowledge they have accumulated at Schulich thus far.
How does it work?
Second year students sign up as a “Buddy” and are matched with a first year student based on interests, background, and concentration.
What is the difference between the Buddy Program and the Mentorship Program?
The Schulich Mentorship Program is organized by the Alumni Relations Department where MBA students are matched with Schulich Alumni. The Buddy Program matches incoming students with current students to help them make their transition into the Schulich MBA lifestyle as smooth as possible. If you would like more information on the Schulich Mentorship Program, click here: http://www.schulich.yorku.ca/ssb-extra/alumnimentorship.nsf
What is the difference between the Buddy Program and the Open Arms Committee?
The Open Arms Committee (OAC) is a student run organization that works closely with the Student Services and International Relations. This programs works similarly in principle but the OAC is designed mainly for international students whereas the Buddy Program is for all Schulich MBA students. If you would like additional information on the OAC, click here: http://oac.schulich.yorku.ca/whatisoac.htm
Is there a lot of time commitment involved?
It’s up to you! You can share experiences with your Buddy or simply answer questions as they arise. We ask that you try to keep the lines of communication flowing either through email, phone or even face-to-face contact.
Why do we need a Buddy Program at Schulich?
The Buddy Program is a valuable experience for both parties involved. Current students who chose to join the program will get to meet new and interesting students with whom they share common interests. The experience is rewarding and contributes to enhancing the experience of the Schulich MBA community. Incoming students get the advantage of valuable inside information, a future networking contact and a familiar face at GBC social events.
